I started this blog as a means to:
1) Motivate and/or force myself (as necessary) to write more outside of school projects, and
2) Document my interests, primarily those related to firearms (hence the title).
I grew up with a semi-sporadic interest in firearms mostly limited to occasionally plinking with a bolt action Savage .22 and pheasant hunting with my father’s 12 gauge Winchester pump. That suddenly changed when I turned 18 and became able to buy and shoot the guns of my choice (and very limited budget). My interest grew rapidly and I had the opportunity to own a variety of handguns, shotguns and rifles for the next few years before making the decision to join the US Army. Before shipping out to OSUT, I sold off what remained of my meager collection.
I served for three years as an Infantryman (MOS 11B) with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) stationed at Fort Campbell, KY, including a nine month deployment to Afghanistan as part of OEF 12-13. I ETS’d from the Army in early 2014 and returned home to Arizona to finish school. At the same time, I began purchasing new firearms because I wanted to get back into the shooting sports and work to improve my own skills. I am presently a student working on completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.
